Carrefour Teams Up With Marché Frais On Supply, Licensing Partnership

Carrefour has announced that it is entering into a supply and brand-licensing partnership with Marché Frais, a retailer known for its fresh-produce selection.

Marché Frais, which operates 12 hypermarkets and supermarkets in the Île-de-France region, will be rebranded as Marché Frais by Carrefour once the partnership, set to commence on 1 July, begins.

It will see Marché Frais offer a range of private-label and national-brand products sourced from Carrefour’s supply chain and build on the already-strong reputation that Marché Frais enjoys in the areas in which it has a presence.

‘Expertise In Fresh Products’

‘This partnership will allow Carrefour to draw on [its] expertise in fresh products and to study the possibility of using this concept in other stores in the group,’ Carrefour noted in a statement.

Marché Frais has been in business for close to 40 years, during which time it has made ‘eating better while spending less’ its core priority, which aligns with that of Carrefour, according to Alexandre de Palmas, director of Carrefour France.

‘A Very Good Alliance’

“Carrefour and Marché Frais have now sealed a very good alliance,” de Palmas said. “For Marché Frais, this is the guarantee of a quality supply, with the best references from national brands and the Carrefour brand.

“For its part, Carrefour France is working alongside one of the finest distribution companies in the Île-de-France region, a player recognised for its great expertise in fresh products and its unique location in Île-de-France.”

De Palmas added that the partnership with Marché Frais marks a “new stage” in the retailer’s expansion strategy, “whether through the opening of local stores, our targeted acquisition policy or supply partnerships. I would like to thank the teams who made it possible to sign this partnership, which our customers will be able to benefit from from July 2024.”

Carrefour reported a turnover of €94.1 billion in 2023.
