Candando Opens Second Hypermarket in Angola

A second Candando hypermarket has opened in Talatona, near Luanda, less than a year after the launch of the retail banner in Angola, reports Dinheiro Vivo.

Candando is part of Contidis group, owned by local businesswoman Isabel dos Santos and headed by Portuguese manager Miguel Osório.

The first Candando hypermarket opened also in Luanda in May 2016, as part of a $40 million (€37.2 million) investment that created 750 jobs.

At the time, Osório announced the opening of ten Candando stores in five years, as part of an overall investment of $400 million (€372 million). He also said that the new hypermarket chain will focus on local products.

The Angolan group has not revealed so far the amount invested in the second store.
