Carrefour Belgium To Reduce Waste By Merging Promotional Flyers

Carrefour Belgium has announced plans to merge the promotional flyers for its hypermarkets and supermarkets, in a bid to reduce the amount of paper it uses.

Customers are now able to find all promotions on one common flyer; an initiative that the retailer says fits perfectly into its ‘Act for Food’ programme to reduce waste.

Carrefour has estimated that the ‘transversal’ flyer will save 500 tonnes of paper annually.

The company previously promoted its product offers in two separate leaflets, one for the hypermarkets and one for supermarkets.

This flyer will be the first to be distributed in consumers’ mailboxes following the lifting of the temporary ban on promotions and flyers by the Belgian government.
