Migros Group Sees 1.3% Growth In Sales In 2018

Swiss retailer Migros Group has posted a 1.3% growth in sales to CHF 28.4 billion (€25.1 billion) in its financial year 2018.

Consolidated retail sales grew by 2.5% to CHF 16.9 billion (€14.9 billion), with Migros supermarkets and hypermarkets generating domestic sales of CHF 11.8 billion (€10.4 billion) in 2018.

Sales in the 10 Migros cooperatives increased by 1.5% despite the challenging market environment.

This was mainly driven by the increase in customer frequency to 350 million transactions (+1.5%).

Sales in its Digitec Galaxus online department store increased by 14.2% to CHF 953 million.

Sustainable Products

Regional and sustainable products enjoyed uninterrupted popularity, with customers buying more than 3% more products from the 'Aus der Region. Für die Region' (From the region. For the region) assortment.

The sales of products with ecological or social added value were 4.7% higher than in the previous year, amounting to CHF 3.1 billion.
