Spar Opens 100th Store In Georgia

Spar Georgia has announced the opening of its 100th store in the country in the capital city of Tbilisi.

The retailer entered the Georgian market four years ago, and has been rapidly expanding its network in the country over the past few months.

International retail and development director at Spar International, David Moore, said, “It is an incredible achievement to have opened 100 stores in such a short space of time. We’re really pleased with the progress here in Georgia and one of the things we’re most proud of, is that we’ve created 1,800 jobs in this market.

“Spar Georgia’s ambition is to work towards 200 stores across the country. The future looks bright for Spar in Georgia.”

A Wide Range Of Products

The store, launched on 24 October, is spread across an area of 160 square metres. It offers domestic and international grocery ranges, as well as a large selection of Spar’s own brand products and fresh foods.

Other highlights of the store include a bakery section that offers traditional Georgian baked goods, the food-to-go counter, and the dairy department.

Spar's new distribution centre has complemented the growth of the company’s retail network, ensuring high standards of service to its outlets across the country.

The additional distribution capacity has also helped the retailer to focus on fresh items, enabling greater access to ready-to-eat and ready-to-heat meal solutions.

The store’s launch also co-incided with the last day of Spar Georgia’s first international conference, which witnessed a gathering of 200 Spar employees from Ukraine, Russia and Azerbaijan, as well as investors and local suppliers.
