Tesco Opticians To Be Sold To Vision Express

Tesco is selling its opticians business in the UK and Republic of Ireland to Vision Express, according to a statement released by the retailer yesterday.

“This allows us to further simplify and strengthen our UK business and ensures our customers are still able to enjoy high quality eye care services from Vision Express in our larger stores," said Matt Davies, CEO of Tesco UK and ROI.

Tesco Opticians is currently operating in 206 stores across the UK and three in the Republic of Ireland, employing 1,500 people. The retailer says that staff members will be eligible to transfer to Vision Express following a consultation process.
