Metro Group has completed the acquisition of French foodservice distribution firm Pro à Pro, with the deal receiving approval from the French Competition Authority.
Commenting on the deal, Philippe Palazzi, a member of the operating board of Metro Cash & Carry and operating partners France, Spain and Portugal, said that the company is "delighted to commence operations with Pro à Pro. This acquisition will further strengthen our FSD profile for professional customers and our overall wholesale positioning in France.”
The deal was first announced in July of last year, when Metro Group announced that it had signed a deal with Belgium's Colruyt Group to acquire the business.
Pro à Pro has around 42,000 customers in France and focuses on canteens in the public and private sector, as well as major contract caterers and chained and independent restaurants. In 2015, it posted sales of around €670 million.
The deal includes the operational business, as well as the warehouses and logistics structure of Pro à Pro.
