As part of its effort towards total sustainable production, L’Oréal has said that by the close of 2016 its rinse-off SKUs will be totally free of plastic microbeads, which cause damage within seas and oceans.
“Since 2013, our R&I team have been working on reformulating our products, exploring many different alternative solutions, as one solution is not responding to the various types of exfoliations and textures our consumers expect from our products,” the cosmetics giant said in a press release
“For example, we can use minerals like clays and perlite, powder of fruit12 kernels and some natural waxes, either alone or in association.”
L’Oréal went on to state that it is already four-fifths towards achieving this green target, with 80 per cent of its rinse-off products made without microbeads already.
