Migros Launches 100% Recycled-PET Bottles

Swiss retailer Migros has introduced 100% recycled-PET bottles, for the first time.

With the introduction of these bottles, Migros hopes to save more than 2,500 tonnes of plastic every year.

Aims For 2025

From 2025, all PET bottles in the EU are required to contain a minimum of 25% recycled PET, but Migros has already reached this goal, with bottles for its Sirup juice range now consisting of 100% recycled PET, and its mineral water bottles containing up to 60% recycled PET.

Migros's aim for 2025 is to 'close the circle' by using up to 100% recycled PET for its mineral water.

As well as the use of recycled PET, Migros is also optimising the shape of the bottles, to make them more environmentally friendly.

This process has made it possible to save around 350 tonnes of new material each year.

Additionally, the lids on bottles have been made smaller, to use less material.
