Smurfit Kappa Acquires New Facility In Texas For Manufacturing Wine Taps

Smurfit Kappa has announced that it has acquired a new facility in Texas that will strengthen its Vitop wine tap manufacturing capabilities.

Premium bag-in-box wines are a rapidly growing segment in the North American beverage sector, and the new plant will play an important role in the US market.

Vitop taps have revolutionised the company's Bag-in-Box system by offering a tamper-proof solution that also extends the product's shelf life, the company said.

'An Important Milestone'

Chief executive of Smurfit Kappa Vitop, Didier Pontcharraud, added, "Acquiring this new US facility is an important milestone for Smurfit Kappa Bag-in-Box.

"The new plant will support the growth we’re seeing in both the wine and non-food markets in the Americas, and will facilitate the development of state-of-the-art dispensing technologies."

Increase In Demand

Smurfit Kappa has witnessed an increase in demand for liquid packaging solutions for olive oil, water, fruit juice, and motor oil.

The packaging giant will make a series of investments in the new 100,000 square-feet facility to expand its Bag-in-Box solutions.

At full capacity, the new plant will employ 70 people. Smurfit Kappa operates Bag-in-Box facilities in 12 countries across the world.
