Jumbo To Donate Learning Materials To Dutch Schools
Dutch retailer Jumbo has pledged to donate €1.4 million in educational materials and playground equipment to primary schools in The Netherlands.
In a nationwide campaign - which runs until 11 October 2016 - customers can support schools of their choice, by collecting tokens for every €10 they spend in Jumbo stores.
The tokens have a code, to allocate (online) to one of 1,400 Dutch schools. At the end of the campaign each school will receive a cut of €1.4 million, according to tokens accumulated.
“The 'Saving for your School' campaign fits perfectly with our social objectives. As a mother of four, I know how important learning through play is, so I think it is excellent that our customers can save for local primary schools on a grand scale,” said Colette Cloosterman-Van Eerd, co-owner of Jumbo Supermarkets.
Prior to the campaign, which started on 7 September, the schools had chosen their shortlist from a selection, which included a ‘muziek paneel’: an interactive, outdoor installation to play bells or tubes with.
