Tesco Agricultural Director Exits Retailer

After 18 months in the position, Tom Hind, Tesco's agricultural director, whose role involved negotiating with farmers and producers across the world, has decided to part ways with the UK's biggest grocer, according to Farmers Weekly.

Prior to joining Tesco, Hind worked for 15 years at the UK's National Farmers' Union, finishing his tenure in the position of director of corporate affairs. His resignation from Tesco was reportedly made of his own volition.

The supermarket chain will recruit a replacement for Hind, who joined it in November 2013. He took the agricultural posting against the troubled backdrop of the year's horsemeat scandal.

Tesco said, "We'd like to thank him for all his hard work and wish him well for the future.

"Since joining the business, Tom has played an integral part in building effective and long-term relationships with farmers and suppliers across the UK, and ensuring Tesco remains British agriculture’s biggest customer and proudest supporter."
