L'Oréal has launched its Garnier Ultra Blends product line in India, the first Asian country in which the brand will have a presence.
The range incorporates oils, creams, shampoos and conditioners. They have been tailored to suit the Indian market, which is an approach the cosmetics giant has taken when launching the line in other countries, according to EconomicTimes.com.
Jean-Christophe Letellier, managing director of L'Oreal India, said, “Patanjali [the rapidly growing Indian cosmetics firm] is not a threat or trigger for the launch as aspiration for natural products is a global trend and not just in India. We need more such players to develop the market and Garnier will help penetrate the market further.
"While we have used global efficiency and expertise in hair care, the formula is crafted and developed for India.”
Speaking about the Indian market in general, he added, "Overall growth rate has come down in the last three years for consumer products industry but we have grown twice as fast. We are recruiting new consumers and deploying aggressive strategy in bringing best quality in most accessible formats such as sachets.”
