Cdiscount Enters Online Food Retailing

Cdiscount has entered the word of online food retailing with an initial offering of 4,000 SKUs, lsa-conso.fr reports.

In Paris, Neuilly-sur-Seine, and Levallois-Perret,  Cdiscount, which is owned by Groupe Casino, guarantees delivery in 90 minutes or less for offers of €25 or more. The service is available from 9am to 7.30pm every day except for Sunday, when its window is 9am to midday. Deliveries that cost less that €5.90 are carried out by bicycle or on foot.

LSA suggests that the web-based Cdiscount platform has been launched as a means of competing with Amazon. Whereas Amazon places emphasis on its expansive range of products, Cdiscount advertises its efficiency and speed of delivery.
