Colruyt Tests Voice-Recorded Shopping Lists In Belgium

Colruyt Group has announced that it is testing a voice-recorded shopping list service in Belgium.

Commenting on the trial, the marketing manager at Colruyt, Guy Elewaut, said, "Together with our customers, we examine whether speech technology is an efficient means to prepare for shopping."

The Process

Customers who register for the trial can record their shopping lists on their smartphones or any other Google Assistant-enabled devices, and save them in the MyColruyt app and on Colruyt's website.

Elewaut explained, "It is possible to test the shopping list at any moment and in any situation.

"At home, when something is missing from the fridge, or on the way to the store, for instance, there is no need to write or type the list. Recording it is enough," he furthered.

As the Belgian version of Google Assistant is still being developed, the trial will be conducted on versions available in the Netherlands and France.

Product Suggestions

The service will also provide customised product suggestions based on individual buying behaviours, when customers access their list in the MyColruyt app.

To complete their orders, customers have the option of ticking off the list in store or sending it to Collect&Go, Colruyt's online shopping service.

Colruyt is the first supermarket in Belgium to test voice-recorded shopping lists.
