Carrefour Belgium Opens Seventh Express Store In Liége Hospital

Carrefour Belgium has opened a new Carrefour Express outlet in the CHC MontLégia Clinic in Liége, which is its seventh store located at a hospital site.

Initially, the store will only be accessible to hospital staff due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) restrictions.

The retailer has that priority access will be given to nursing staff, in addition to free delivery via its ShipTo service.

Other hospitals in which Carrefour operates a store include Namur Ste Elisabeth, CHIREC Delta, UCL St Luc, Tivoli La Louvière, CHR Liège Citadelle, and Kortrijk AZ Groeninge.

'An Additional Mission'

Commenting on the new store, Réginald Willems, franchisee of Carrefour Express MontLégia, said, “In these difficult times, our stores play an essential role in continuing to supply the Belgian population.

"As we are located in a hospital, we feel invested with an additional mission of offering a store that is very easy to access for hospital staff, who sometimes do not have a minute to spare at this time for shopping."

The store, spread across an area of 101 square metres, will offer bread and pastries; freshly squeezed juice; a large assortment of lunch items; organic fruit and vegetables and bulk dried fruit; an assortment of groceries, dairy products and sausages; and a range of prepared meals.
