Lidl Denmark Signs Up Architectural Firms To Develop New Headquarters

Lidl Denmark has appointed architectural firm Link as the overall advisor on the development project of its new 11,000 square metre headquarters at Godsbanen in Aarhus.

The discounter has also appointed engineering consultancy Niras as the building advisor on the project, which will encompass around 11,000 square metres of space, incorporating a new concept Lidl store and several roof terraces overlooking the city.

The new headquarters are due to be completed by 2021.

Lidl said that both Link and Niras are considered among the ‘leading companies’ in Scandinavia within their area of expertise.

‘Extensive Experience’

"We are very pleased with the choice of Link and Niras as advisers on this project,” commented Mads T Nielsen, director of property development at Lidl Denmark.

“They have extensive experience in, among other things, construction and planning, and are known for developing well-functioning and sustainable buildings and working environments. These are all important parameters in relation to our future headquarters in Aarhus.”

Lidl said that over the next year, it will look to appoint one of the two companies to oversee the final construction of the project. It previously announced that it is working with another firm Olaf Jørgensen, which it has appointed as the consultant engineer on the project, as well as an architectural firm, Smak.
