Slovenia’s Interspar Vič Reopens After €6m Face-Lift

Spar Slovenia has reopened its Interspar hypermarket Vič in the capital city of Ljubljana after four months of renovation costing €6 million.

The store and its restaurant are now modernised, and spread across an area of 7,000 square metres.

Managing director of Spar Slovenia, Igor Mervič, said, “For us at Spar, our customers always come first, and our focus during the renovation has been to create a high quality and modern shopping experience.”

Eco-Friendly Initiatives

The new store has also incorporated numerous environmentally-friendly measures.

Energy saving LED lights have been installed in the store, and refrigerator and freezer doors have been equipped with low-energy consumption technology.

The bakery uses an oven powered by wooden pellets, which is a sustainable and renewable energy source.

Convenient Shopping

The store's market-place area now includes a wide variety of seasonal fruit and vegetables, while the delicatessen section offers cheese, meat products and Mediterranean specialities.

The Spar bakery offers more than 80 freshly-baked items, as well as a self-service shelf where another 40 items are available.

The butcher’s shop has a wide range of fresh meat sourced from domestic suppliers, along with selected specialities from around the world.

The fish section is now bigger and includes a wide variety of fresh and seawater fish, shellfish and frozen produce.

The store also has a ‘Spar to Go’ section that offers a range of freshly prepared salads, sandwiches, desserts, and pre-chilled drinks.

“We are pleased that the result includes an extensive choice, a pleasant ambience, supported by the entire team offering friendly service, all of which we believe will ensure our customers enjoy themselves and return,” Mervič added.

Around 133 people are now employed with the store, while another 32 work for the restaurant.
