Amazon To Open New Seller Support Hub In Barcelona

Online retailer Amazon.com Inc. has chosen Barcelona as the location of its Seller Support Hub for southern Europe, according to FinancialFood.es.

It will offer services and advice to the growing number of small businesses in France, Italy and Spain that use Amazon Marketplace as their online channel of sales.

The hub will be a multilingual centre, employing 500 staff over three years. It is expected to begin operations before the summer, and will start with a smaller team of 100 people.

This is the fifth major investment that Amazon has announced in Spain in recent months, after the inauguration of two urban logistic facilities for Amazon Prime Now in Madrid and Barcelona, and two similar facilities in Castellbisbal and El Prat de Llobregat.

"At Amazon, we see how businesses in the south of Europe are learning rapidly to take advantage of these opportunities provided by e-commerce in order to grow internationally," commented François Saugier, the VP of Amazon Marketplace in Europe.

"We want to be the best partner for European businesses, regardless of their size, and our new Support Seller Hub in Barcelona puts at their disposal the training and assistance necessary to make their transition online successful."

Amazon has created more than 1,000 permanent positions in Spain in the last five years.
