Continente customers can now process payments for their purchases through a new feature integrated into the Continente Card App, the retailer has announced.
Customers can use the payment service by adding a debit or credit card to the Continente app.
While initiating a payment, they need to authorise the use of the app and present the mobile phone number to the cashier.
'Pioneering Innovation'
Tomás Ribeiro, Continente Card Director at Sonae MC, believes that the payment facility will make shopping easier and added that it "is yet another proof of Continente's pioneering innovation" for consumers.
Presently, the new payment feature is available in several Continente stores across Portugal. The retailer plans to extend it to all Continente stores in due course.
The Continente Card App, which already has over 850,000 users, is one of Sonae MC's innovation vehicles for customer services, the retailer added.
