Interspar Austria's Online Service Expands To Salzburg

Interspar Austria has announced the expansion of the delivery area of its online service to Salzburg and surrounding areas.

The company launched Austria's largest online food shopping service in Vienna in September 2016 with an offering of around 20,000 products. The expansion will give the retail giant access to around three million Austrians.

The new Interspar online service is available to around 320,000 inhabitants located in 40 communities in and around Salzburg. Products are distributed from the Interspar hypermarket in Hallein.

“Time in retail never stands still and the needs and purchasing behaviour of our customers are constantly developing. Our ambition, and at the same time our mission, is to react to these trends and to continue the development of retailing – both stationary and online", said Spar Austria CEO, Gerhard Drexel.

How It Works

The company offers same day delivery for orders placed before 12 pm. Customers have the option of collecting from a pick-up point for €1 or paying €4.90 for delivery. Delivery is not charged on orders of €100 or more. Customers can choose to pay online or upon delivery.

Onsite in Hallein, a 20-member team is responsible for order-picking the products which are then stored in cool boxes to ensure that they remain in optimum condition for delivery.

Ordering is uncomplicated and can be done on any device from a PC to a smartphone. Food can be searched by keyword and product type. Delicatessen orders can be purchased by weight.

“Our goal in Vienna was to gain as much experience as possible and to continue the optimisation of the entire service through customer feedback [...] Currently, our customer satisfaction rating is above 95%”, said Markus Kaser, managing director of Interspar Austria in a recent press statement.
