Online marketplace Ozon has announced the opening of a new IT lab in St Petersburg, at which it intends to employ more than 300 developers and engineers.
Commenting on the opening, Anton Stepanenko, chief technology officer at Ozon, said, "Ozon's business started in 1998 in St. Petersburg. It was here that Russia’s oldest online retailer was created, and today it has become a leader of the fast-growing e-commerce market. Without a doubt, some of the country’s best IT specialists work in St. Petersburg.
"For that reason, we immediately considered opening an office in the northern capital when planning the development of Ozon Tech in the Russian regions.”
Last year, Ozon, which was recently named the third most valuable IT company in Russia by Forbes, was cited as being among the top three IT companies in Russia in terms of recognition and attractiveness.
The company currently employs more than 1,400 IT specialists and aims to hire approximately 1,200 new developers and engineers throughout Russia in 2021.
