British American Tobacco p.l.c. (BAT) has announced the appointment of Darrell Thomas as an independent non-executive director and member of the audit and nominations committees, effective today (7 December 2020).
Thomas brings years’ worth of experience in financial and regulatory affairs in the US market.
Currently, he serves as the vice president and treasurer of Harley-Davidson, Inc.
Previously, he held several senior finance positions in the company, including interim chief financial officer and vice-president and chief financial officer of its financial services division.
He also held the position of vice-president and assistant treasurer at PepsiCo, Inc.
Banking Background
Before joining PepsiCo, Darrell spent 19 years in the banking sector in various capital markets and corporate finance roles with Commerzbank Securities, Swiss Re New Markets, ABN Amro Bank, and Citicorp/Citibank.
BAT chairman, Richard Burrows, welcomed Thomas to the board and said, “Darrell has extensive business experience in the USA. He is also very experienced in regulatory affairs there.
"These strengths will complement the balance of skills on the board, underlining the importance of the US to BAT.”
