Disappointing Figures For Private Label Ice Cream In France

In France, sales volumes of ice creams are up, though private label products in the category have fallen in value.

The market grew overall in 2014 by 0.4 per cent, with some category-leaders performing exceptionally well. By contrast, private label ice cream brands (along with Nestlé ice creams) did disappointingly.

R&R Ice Cream, which is in a partnership with Mondelez (that owns the brands Oreo, Daim, Toblerone, among others), demonstrated the greatest improvement in terms of growth, with sales volumes up by 20 per cent.

Nestlé, however, did relatively poorly during 2014, with a drop in sales volumes of 5.2 per cent, as did private label ice creams (down 4.7 per cent). The ice cream products of Häagen-Dazs and Unilever grew in value, with sales volumes up 3.4 per cent and 3.6 per cent respectively.
