Nestlé Spain Invests €19 Million In Environmental Management

Nestlé Spain has announced that it invested approximately €19 million in its environmental management over the period from 2010 to 2016.

The investments were made in order to optimise natural resources and minimise the impact of the company's activity.

As a result, Nestlé Spain has reduced its water usage per tonne of product manufactured by 59.4%, waste to landfill by 74%, and its greenhouse gas emissions by 15%.

By 2020, the company plans to ‘consolidate its commitment to the environment’ and increase these reductions to 64%, 100%, and 35% respectively.

Zero Landfill Waste

In commitment to the company’s policy of ‘zero waste to landfill’ across its ten production centres, Nestlé Spain has decreased its waste to landfill from 3380 tonnes in 2010 to 883 tonnes produced last year.

Five of Nestlé’s ten industrial plants are already considered as zero waste to landfill sites.

At present, 100% of the electricity purchased by Nestlé Spain comes from renewable energy sources.
