Amazon To Launch Private Label Range

Online retail giant Amazon has announced plans to launch a number of private label lines, which will include foods and household items.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Amazon has been testing the idea for a number of years now, and will launch the new line over the next few weeks.

The new range will stock items such as nuts, spices, baby food and coffee, as well as household items including diapers and laundry detergents.

Amazon has tested private label goods in the past, mainly in the electronics, but this is the first time it will venture into private label FMCGs.

The labels will initially only be available to Amazon Prime users in the US, and will start to appear around the end of May or early June. It will likely experiment on price to test their market value first.
