Continente Introduces Own-Brand Aluminium Coffee Capsules

Portuguese retailer Continente has announced that it has launched aluminium coffee capsules in four variants - Decaffeinate, Seducent, Ristretto and Possente.

The capsules are compatible with Nespresso machines and offer a unique and differentiating proposition in the private-label coffee capsule segment.

The range reinforces the commitment of Continente to offer innovative, high-quality products at low prices.

The coffee used in the production of these capsules is certified to ensure environmental and social sustainability, the retailer added.

Advantages

Aluminium capsules are known for better conservation of aromas and creamier coffees.

It also allows a significant reduction in the carbon footprint compared to plastic capsules.

Business unit director of Sonae MC, Tânia Lucas, commented, "The coffee capsules segment was one of the fastest-growing categories during the COVID-19 pandemic phase.

“This category shows a growth of about 30%, which continues after the de-confinement period. This launch reinforces the innovative positioning of the Continente brand.“

The Range

The four variants in the range offer different levels of intensity.

Café Possente comes with an intensity level of 11, followed by Café Ristretto with 10, Café Decaffeinato at 9 and Café Seducente at8.

The retailer plans to add caramel, vanilla and cinnamon flavours to the range over the coming weeks.
