Metro Group Publishes Corporate-Responsibility Report

Metro Group has published its annual corporate-responsibility report, with the retailer saying that it has made significant improvements in sustainability since subscribing to the principles of the UN Global Compact in 2010.

The 2015/16 Corporate Responsibility Report illustrates how the group has made improvements in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption measures.

“We have set clear priorities in the last several years and are happy to see the progress and success we've already reached,” said Heiko Hutmacher, member of the management board responsible for sustainability. “Together with our employees, customers and partners, we continue to focus on the issues that make a real difference in sustainability.”

The guiding theme of this year’s report is ‘materiality’ “because we want to engage most intensively in the topics that are most essential to all stakeholders,” Hutmacher stated.
