Finish retailing cooperative S Group is continuing to invest in its nationwide network of charging stations for electric cars and plans to add numerous locations this year.
By the end of 2022, it is estimated that there will be more than 150 ABC charging stations at the retailer's locations, compared to 50 at the end of 2021.
The new openings will focus on power and high-performance charging.
S Group Charging Stations
More than 40 new ABC charging stations are currently under construction.
In addition, more than 70 stations are planned in different parts of Finland this year.
The charging stations will be located in Prisma, S-market, Sale and Alepa stores, ABC stations, and Sokos Hotels.
Olli Tervonen from SOK, who is responsible for ABC charging, said, "At the end of this year, our network will be three times higher than at the end of 2021.
"As a result, there will be an estimated more than 150 ABC charging stations and more than 1,000 charging points at the end of the year."
Each ABC charging station has multiple charging points to meet the growing number of cars that can be charged.
According to a car industry forecast, approximately 740,000 rechargeable cars will be on Finnish roads by 2030.
Tervonen added, "The construction of a charging network will support the disruption of traffic. ABC charging also plays an important role in the S Group's ambitious climate goals.
"The electricity from ABC charging is 100% renewable, generated by wind power, and by expanding the charging network, we offer our customers more opportunities to move towards more climate-friendly traffic."
The group is aiming to have around 1,000 ABC charging stations by the beginning of 2025.
In addition to ABC charging, the goal of the ABC chain is to find other cost-effective and technically efficient solutions to reduce fossil emissions from transport now and in the future.
As part of this initiative, the ABC chain launched, among other things, the fully renewable Nero Diesel in the summer of 2021.
High-Power Charging Stations
ABC offers high-power chargers at its charging stations, allowing customers charge their vehicles quickly.
The pricing is based on kilowatt hours for both basic and power and high-power charging and transactions are done with the ABC mobile application.
Currently, there are approximately 75 ABC charging stations with charging points for over 500 cars, comprising 298 basic charging points (power max. 22 kW), 155 power charging points (power max. 100 kW), and 65 high-power charging points (power max. 150 kW).
