Spanish retailer DIA Group has announced the appointment of Jesús Soto Cantero as its new chief financial officer.
He will be responsible for promoting the execution of the company's business plan and providing support to the finance departments in all the countries in which DIA operates.
Broad Strategic Vision
Soto Cantero is an experienced professional with a broad strategic vision.
He has 25 years of experience in supporting business transformation from a financial and operational perspective.
He served as the head of IT and supply chain at Grupo VIPS and was responsible for leading the group's transformation in a supporting role.
Stephan DuCharme, CEO of DIA Group, welcomed him to the company and said, "Soto [Cantero]'s main mission will be to support the various countries in their financial areas to promote the execution of the business plan in important aspects, such as the digital transformation of the financial department or the search for the efficiency and optimisation of internal processes."
Elsewhere, the company has named Enéas Pestana as the new CEO of DIA Brasil.
He is an experienced professional who held the top job at Pão de Açúcar Group from 2010 to 2014.
He is also a member of the advisory council of DIA Brasil.
Pestana succeeds Marcelo Maia, who will join the company's board of directors on 1 January 2021.
Maia will serve as an external director to incorporate his vision of Brazil into the group's strategy.
Ducharme commented, "The vision, knowledge and experience of Marcelo—whom I want to thank for his leadership at the helm of the DIA Brasil team—will help us better understand the changes and evolution of the Brazilian market to make the necessary strategic decisions within the board.
"I also want to welcome Enéas Pestana, who has been tasked with carrying out the transformation process in Brazil, a country where we believe there is a significant opportunity to develop DIA's proximity concept."
