Spar Hungary Invests €13m In Store Modernisation Programme

Spar Hungary has announced that it has invested around €13 million in a store modernisation programme to create a '21st-century shopping experience' for customers.

As a part of the programme, the retailer has renovated five existing Spar stores, modernised the Interspar Hypermarket in Miskolc, and opened a new store in Győr that has created around 280 jobs.

The renovated stores, featuring state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly, store design and equipment, offer a high level of service, and an extended product range.

Store Renovation

The retail giant has invested around €7 million in renovating two Spar outlets in Budapest, and one each in Sopron, Lenti, and Pécs.

The theme of the renovation centred around offering customers convenient and modern shopping experience, along with the implementation of environmentally-friendly retail solutions like LED lighting, and energy-efficient cooling and heating systems.

The key highlights in these five renovated stores are the bakery, a delicatessen, and a grill counter offering freshly prepared products for customers.

Modernised Hypermarket

Elsewhere. the modernisation of the Interspar hypermarket in Miskolc involved an investment of €5 million.

The store layout has been rearranged to offer customers two easy-to-navigate shopping routes. One is aimed at customers who are on a quick shopping spree, and another for those who want to shop at ease.

A self-checkout facility has also been added to help those that might be in a hurry.

The group has also introduced a number of new services including an Interspar to Go restaurant, which offers freshly prepared hot meals, pizzas, grilled dishes, roasts, vegetables, cheese, sandwiches, salads, and soft drinks. The modernised facility has created 102 new jobs.

New Store

Spar Hungary has also invested €870,000 in opening a new supermarket in a residential area in Győr.

The new store has incorporated environmentally-friendly measures, and offers a state-of-the-art shopping experience to customers, the retailer said.
