Coop Italia Promotes Private Label Brands Abroad

Italian cooperative and food retailer Coop Italia has created a new firm to connect Italian food producers and international buyers.

'Coop Italian Food' is aimed at establishing partnerships built around Coop’s food culture and deep knowledge of the Italian food production.

According to the retailer, it will provide partners with a wide, distinctive and original Italian range of products through its private label sourcing platform.

The launch of 'Coop Italian Food' comes at a time when the retailer is planning to relaunch its private label range in Italy, with the introduction of new products.

The goal, according to chairman Marco Pedroni, is to increase the retailer's private label market share from 27 per cent (the highest in Italy) to 30 per cent.
