Packaging Firm SIG Announces Management Changes

Packaging company SIG has announced that its chief marketing officer Markus Boehm has stepped down from the role.

He cited upcoming organisational changes as the reason behind the decision.

The company has decided to delegate some of his responsibilities to the regional heads in Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Americas, while the remaining to other members of the group executive board.

Elsewhere, the president and general manager of the company’s European division, Martin Herrenbrück, has stepped down from the position.

He has decided to take up a position outside SIG and will leave the Company at the end of 2020, the company said.

CEO of SIG Combibloc, Rolf Stangl, commented, “I would like to thank both Markus [Boehm] and Martin [Herrenbrück] for their contributions to the success of SIG over many years.

“Boehm has driven major innovations such as combismile, now being rolled out globally, and has taken sustainable packaging to a new level with recent launches including SIGNATURE PACK. Under Herrenbrück's leadership, we have gained share in Europe and have returned to a growth path in the region.”

Organisational Changes

The company also announced a series of changes within the organisation.

SIG's chief supply chain officer, Ian Wood, will take over as the chief technology officer in addition to his current responsibilities and lead the global technology and research and development functions.

Chief financial officer, Samuel Sigrist is to assume overall responsibility for commercial operations, including filler investments and solutions pricing, in addition to his current responsibilities, the company added.

'Global Nature' Of Business

Stangl added, “The organisational changes announced today take account of the global nature of SIG’s business and the scale that our operations have attained in all regions. It makes sense for many commercial decisions to be made in the regions and close to our customers.

“Globally, Sigrist’s leadership will ensure that we continue to leverage our razor-razorblade business model and to optimise return on investment. Similarly, Wood will oversee the allocation of R&D resources and will ensure that we remain at the cutting edge of technology in the aseptic carton packaging industry.”
