Russian retailer Lenta has announced that it has opened two new supermarkets in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.
The product offering in the two stores includes around 7,700 and 12,000 SKUs respectively, selected specifically for residents of Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.
The assortment includes private-label products, national brands as well as local produce.
The new store at 17 Kavkazsky boulevard in Moscow is spread across an area of 1,188 square metres with 678 square metres of selling space.
It is equipped with six cash registers and is open all seven days of the week, from 8.00 hours to 23:00 hours.
The property where this supermarket is located is part of a long term agreement with ADG Group.
The second store, located at 50B Karl Marks street in Tikhvin, has a total area of 1,760 square metres including 1,136 square metres of selling space.
It has 150 parking spaces, 11 cash registers and is open from 8.00 hours to 23:00 hours, seven days a week.
The supermarket sits on a property previously operated by SPAR, Lenta added.
The retailer has reconstructed both stores to implement a store design that caters to the needs of customers and focuses on fresh produce and healthy food items.
Like other Lenta outlets, the stores have been equipped with sanitising stations and protective screens at checkouts to minimise risks related to the coronavirus pandemic.
The two new openings are the retailer’s sixth and seventh supermarket launches in 2020 and take the total number of Lenta stores to 248 hypermarkets in 88 cities across Russia and 138 supermarkets in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and the Central region.
In 2019, the company’s board of directors approved a capex of RUB1.9 billion to open 29 supermarkets in Moscow during 2020-2021 with a total selling space of approximately 24,000 square metres as part of a contract with ADG real estate development group.
Lenta has also leased 12 store premises, previously operated by SPAR, in Saint-Petersburg.
