Supermarket Chains Decline To Sign Anti-Brexit Petition

Supermarket chains Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons have declined to sign a petition urging the British public to vote against leaving the EU in June.

According to The Guardian, a number of leading companies from different sectors in Britain have signed the petition against a 'Brexit'.

The paper speculates that all three companies have concluded that supporting staying in the EU could deter shoppers.

However, Tesco explained in a statement, "The referendum on EU membership is a decision for the people of Britain. Whatever that decision is, our focus will continue to be on serving customers."

Similarly, a spokesperson for Sainsbury's told The Guardian that the vote was "a matter for the British people", and that the company is an "apolitical" one.
