Netto Poland Appoints Janusz Stroka As New CEO

Danish retail group Dansk Supermarked has appointed Janusz Stroka as the new CEO for its Netto Poland discount stores.

Under the new appointment, the Polish discounter is set to expand by 40 new stores per year from 2020 onwards, according to the retail group.

“Janusz comes with extensive experience from working most of his career in retail,” said Michael Loeve, executive vice president for Netto International.

“Our plans for Netto Poland are very ambitious and it has been important to find an experienced and skilled person like Janusz, who has held several key positions from which he can bring a lot of knowledge and expertise. Janusz is also Polish and understands the culture and market well, which is very important to us.”

Retail Leadership

Stroka most recently served as divisional director of new formats at Rewe Group and has experience in consumer understanding after two decades of leading positions in retail in several countries, including Poland, Russia and Ukraine.

Previously, he held two leading positions at Rewe Group, first as COO for its Russian operations and then as CEO of Rewe Group Ukraine.

Stroka will be tasked mainly with accelerating growth and further developing the Netto business in Poland. Dansk Supermarked Group’s ambition is to open up more stores at a faster pace from 2020 onwards, it said.

“I am really looking forward to being a part of Dansk Supermarked Group and Netto International,” said Stroka. “The strategy for Netto Poland is very ambitious and exciting to become a part of."

"I will do my utmost to play my part in improving the quality and availability of great products at low prices to our customers through a strategy that aims at investing in existing stores but also expanding through new store openings," he added.
