Croatian Retailers Focus On Premium Private Label Products

Croatian retailers have started competing for customer loyalty by introducing new premium private label variants, according to reports.

Spar Hrvatska, in partnership with local suppliers, has launched a premium own-brand development programme, reports local daily Poslovni Dnevnik.

The retailer's Premium private label line includes around 90 local products, such as sausage from Slavonia, truffle from Istria, ham from Istria and Dalmatia, olive oil from Dalmatia, salami from Samobor, cheese from Pag, pralines from Zadar, various homemade jams and other delicacies.

In addition, Croatia’s largest retailer Konzum has created the 'Special Moments' private label brand, featuring premium products like Croatian olive oil, Belgian chocolate and Italian pasta.

Split-based retailer Tommy offers more than 450 products in its private label portfolio, but only a few are in the premium segment (traditional meat products, ice cream), while all are manufactured in Croatia in cooperation with domestic producers.
