Dutch retailer Jumbo has announced that it will open its fourth Jumbo Foodmarkt outlet in Leidsche Rijn, west of Utrecht, next week.

The store, which is in collaboration with La Place, will be more than 3,500 square metres and will stock over 20,000 products. It will boast one of the largest fruit and vegetable departments in the Netherlands.

Experience Food

Colette Cloosterman-van Eerd, CCO of Jumbo Supermarkten, said, "Jumbo Foodmarkt Leidsche Rijn is a real food experience where the best of both Jumbo and La Place meet. We can experiment with Jumbo Foodmarkt knowing that customers seek and want to continue to be surprised.

“That is why we listened carefully to our customers from the food markets in Breda, Amsterdam and Veghel. The atmosphere, the convenience and the experience of Jumbo Foodmarkt are extremely appreciated. And this pleasure in the field of good food and shopping, we can now also offer here in Leidsche Rijn.

“We are extremely proud that we are opening a fourth Foodmarkt and are fully committed to exceeding our customers' expectations every day.”

Food Café

The supermarket has its own La Place Bakery where customers can go freshly baked bread every day. Chefs will be present every day in nine La Place world kitchens to prepare fresh meals every day for customers to grab to go or enjoy themselves in the Food Café with 240 seats.

Arjen van der Maas, branch manager of Jumbo Foodmarkt Leidsche Rijn added, "Because of the fresh preparation, the attention in the presentation and the wide choice of products Jumbo Foodmarkt offers plenty of inspiration in their own kitchen.

“Everything in the store is about good food. Our team has knowledge of all products that we sell here. We give advice on the preparation and answer questions from customers. While shopping, customers can enjoy a nice meal or a cup of coffee with a delicacy in the Food Café. Children can have fun at the kids' corner. Together with the team, I am really looking forward to opening the doors on Wednesday, May 16.”

Opening day will feature various tastings, cooking demonstrations and workshops supervised by chefs and fresh specialists.
