Tesco Moves Closer To Sustainability Goals In Central Europe

Tesco Slovakia has announced that it has removed 454 tonnes of difficult-to-recycle plastics from its product assortment across Central Europe in one-and-a-half years.

The data includes all four Central European countries where Tesco operates - Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia.

'An Important Step'

The retailer described this achievement as 'an important step' towards achieving its next goal, which is to switch to 100% recyclable own-brand packaging by 2025.

In Slovakia alone, the retail giant has eliminated around 86%, or 149 tonnes, of non-recyclable or difficult-to-recycle materials from its operations.

Tesco has pledged to remove all difficult-to-recycle materials from the packaging of its own-brand products by the end of 2020.
