Coop Italia Introduces Digital Shopping Assistant

Coop Italia has introduced ShoppY, a virtual assistant that helps consumers with their grocery shopping.

The artificial-intelligence based chatbot has been developed by Accenture and Avanade on Microsoft technology.

It uses machine learning algorithms to learn and process, in an anonymous way, the data present in receipts issued to customers.

A Shopping Guide

The chatbot provides customers purchase suggestions, news on promotions, the in-store location of products, and the opening hours of the store.

ShoppY recognizes past interactions with users and is able to create new shopping lists, retrieve previous ones, and update existing ones by proposing products that have been purchased the most by customers.

Easy To Use

The novelty has so far been rolled out in Coop’s Supermercato del Futuro, at Milan Bicocca.

In order to communicate with ShoppY, consumers do not need to download an app or register online.

It is enough to connect to the Facebook page of the Coop store and start chatting.
