Lidl Belgium Introduces Digital Loyalty Card

Lidl Belgium has announced that it has rolled out its first customer loyalty card through the Lidl Plus app.

The loyalty programme will allow shoppers to receive their cash register tickets and additional benefits digitally through the app.

Lidl Belgium has also equipped 305 outlets with free Wi-Fi to facilitate the use of Lidl Plus.

The retailer tested the service with store employees for five months before launching it for customers, the retailer said.

'Best Possible Shopping Experience'

Thomas De Ganck, head of digital & innovation at Lidl Belgium, said, "We want to offer our customers the best possible shopping experience at all times. Belgians are known to love discount coupons, and thanks to Lidl Plus, customers will now be able to take advantage of additional promotions via digital coupons.

"The application also includes other services such as the digital receipt of checkout tickets, access to promotional brochures and a store locator."

Customers will also receive a digital scratch card with various benefits after each purchase.

In addition to the low prices and promotions, customers can also claim a maximum of €10 extra discount per week with Lidl Plus coupons, the retailer said.

How It Works

Customers are required to download the Lidl Plus application via iOS or Android. To register, a shopper provides his/her name, gender, e-mail address, and favourite Lidl store.

The app generates a customer number and QR code for each customer, which can be used in the checkout counters while activating the discount coupons offered by the retailer.

New Services

In the future, Lidl Belgium aims to add new services to the app including shopping lists, personalised coupons, and Lidl Pay.

De Ganck added, "Within a few months, customers can also prepare their shopping list, participate in a savings programme to receive free items and also benefit from personalised coupons based on purchasing behaviour.

"For example, a family with young children will receive specific information and coupons for milk or diapers through Lidl Plus."
