Lidl Belgium Expands Online Pickup Service

Discount retailer Lidl Belgium has installed three new pickup points for online grocery orders: in the cities of Evere, Hamme and Ekeren.

The project, which launched on 9 October, will face a one-year testing period. To promote the new service, customers will receive a 20% discount on fruit and vegetables for every order placed.

Delivery Method

“We’ve chosen a simple, fast and efficient delivery method,” said Lidl Belgium spokeswoman Isabelle Colbrandt.

“After the order has been submitted to Lidl-Shop.be, the customer receives an order number by email. After that, the shopper has only to present the code at the pickup point.”

The retailer has chosen the Cubee locker system for storing and picking up the orders, which allows customers to send or receive packages from other suppliers, too.

Each supermarket includes 58 lockers, which are suitable for storing 90% of items. Orders can be collected during the stores' opening hours. The cost is €2.99 per delivery.
